Indicative Proposal
Following the completion of the community consultation process, TSL Contractors propose to seek detailed planning permission to develop the land at Craignure to create circa 90 new homes, a retail unit, a care home and a children’s nursery.
The proposed housing will range from 2 bedroom flats to 4 bedroom detached villas. 75% of the units will be private for sale and 25% will be affordable homes.
The layout will be developed along “Designing for Streets” principles to create a pedestrian friendly traffic calmed environment with a number of open amenity spaces for play / recreation and dedicated links to the wider countryside.
A series of connected amenity spaces that radiate out from a small central civic square are the main organising device for the location of the new residential units, maximising views and access to open space and maintaining an open ‘rural’ feel throughout. The masterplan contains a clear hierarchy of routes with a primary loop, two secondary shared surface loops and further tertiary links and residential courtyards, providing a variety of characters throughout the layout.
The development will contain significant levels of green space of both a public and private nature and feels appropriate in terms of density for its setting.
A series of active woodland walks are proposed within the retained woodland to the east and south-east of the site along with footpath links through the land to the west / north-west that will link with the nearby golf course. These augment the already generous allocation of amenity space within the proposed layout and provide opportunities to discover the amazing local wildlife.
